I was worried about Garner’s tendency to empathise with family annihilators, but there is requisite space here to reflect on the humanity of the perpetrator whilst acknowledging their capacity for violence vis a vis a desire for control. The murder of her partner’s family (and the alleged attempts on her partner’s life) would surely constitute domestic violence, though I’m yet to see it named as such.
