So far, a fascinating look into French Jewish history and the intertwined major families of the second half of the 19th century, the Impressionists (Renoir, obvs) and their patrons. Tons of names dropped, some of which I've at least heard of.
Belle Époque, fin-de-siècle and all that Parisian jazz. Plus Proust and the Commune and the Les Miz soundtrack (ok maybe that last one is just me as I'm reading).
