I'm not very far into this story, but I'm really struggling. Alix's character just seems overdone and heavy-handed. It's really hard to believe her circumstances and attitude towards everything. A well-read, independent woman who went through the foster system from ~10 onwards who is paying rent, yet sleeps in the lounge and isn't on the lease?
