This book is FILLED with info dumps on the families in the town a nd all the history and feuds. Too much to keep straight and I don't know why I need to know all that. Thought this was a standalone.

She was amazing. He decided there wasn't anything she couldn't do in spite of her pain. He started down the hall to his room when he heard anguished sobs coming from the other side of Cassie's door. It tore his guts out. He felt guilty as hell. Not only had he devastated his father with his unwelcome news, Trace was now forcing Cassie to find a new job while she was still grief-stricken over the loss of her husband.

"I've never seen one. You'll have to show it to me." He moved next to her so they could look at it together. "That's incredible," he said in a husky voice. "Did you and Logan pick out names for the baby before he died?"
"I didn't learn I was pregnant until a few weeks after his death."
"That's tough. I'm sorry. You really are doing this on your own."

"Thank goodness for that at least. Life throws all of us a curve once in a while, one we weren't expecting."
"You're right about that." Their losses were different. Though his career was over, he could still see with a corrective lens. Her loss had to be excruciating.
