I love the dynamic between Holmes and Watson. The first part of the book is intriguing and basic (in a good way). Holmes solving the crime with high precision and all that. But what pulls my interest is the 2nd part being the backstory of the murderer. The mix of fear, love, hatred, and determination throughout his life. I did not expect to be greeted by a heart wrenching backstory and I'm not disappointed.
