D0G: 4* Billie lives alone on an island with a defective D0G she found damaged near a mountain. One day, they rescue a young boy from the fortified village of Wall from another D0G. The boy becomes a frequent visitor, until he "borrows" D0G, hoping to terrorize his bully. Things don't go as planned, D0G kills most people and the boy Kane tried to kill the D0G. Billie kills the dying boy at the end and keeps the D0G.

Hope and Friendship Will Carry Us Through: A Conversation with Suzanne Palmer: good interview, another story with Bot9 coming soon. Ode sounds interesting, and the dog will be fine at the end, which is a plus.

Eternity in Their Hearts: 2* A robot companion named Valentine accompanies a man (Liam) in his last few months as wife/nurse. His sister Teresa is distrusful. They have some interesting discussions, but the ending doesn't satisfy me.

Shelter: 3* Good story, needed a bit more details to make sense of it. A social worker has accepted the job at an alien [consulate]. A saurian comes in then dissolves. The social worker become her keeper, feeling thirsty on her behalf and all. The terms of the job are insanely bad, I want to know why she took this job. First published story in English for this author, which is also great.

The Trajectory of Memory is Forward: 2* Not uninteresting, but also not captivating. Dharsh is a Have-Not, his whole colony are the Have-Not, who don't remember things from one day to the next. He meets Vikky, a Have, when stealing a fabricator. She wants the help of the Have-Not to reach AGod so she can save the Haves from extinction. They travel together, he ends up on a space station, leading an uprising.

I just reread Macaroni Art in the Age of Filtration, 2*. There are rules in the Colony about who gets the next Iron Lung, but that is completely ignored at the end. Also, wouldn't macaroni art degrade? I remember the glue never holding on, and we are supposed to think it lasted many years? Not very realistic...

Macaroni Art in the Age of Filtration: main character is foraging, hoping to find an iron lung for their brother. Their good friend bargained with an old woman to get her iron lung, but the main character's lungs fail so they switch place woth their brother in confinement at the end. I listened to this story and it wasn't super clear, maybe I'll reread it.

The Forgetting Code: 3* A father uses his forgetting code to make people forget their wounds. A space explorer fell in love with his daughter and she died in a supernova. He came back to get the memory erased. Twenty years later the father uses that memory and his to bring his daughter back in a gyroid body she built. Why wait do long?
