One thing I’ve frequently noticed in this book is just how good the place descriptions are. It’s rare a book can describe somewhere so well that even my unimaginative self (or really, my habit of inserting my own descriptions where I find the book lacking) can see exactly what the author intended.

This is such a little thing but I love the subtle world differences here, like the sun rising in the west and setting in the east. That’s such a small yet lovely way to make this world unique.

It’s rare the beginning of a book can be slow and still make me feel like I need to know what happens next. I’m less than a chapter in and desperately want to know what led to things being like this - what happened? Why is Cat at the center of it? Is there anyone else left from her life before this (and what was that life like??) or is she all alone? Took a break to write this and am continuing immediately!
