I found it shocking that the first person the book introduced was intrduced as dead: "Word is the bullet was'nt meant for him, but the bullet didnt know that"(Ribay 2).This is shocking becasue not all books do this and most books just tell you where its set place and who the characters are. Another thing i was suprised by was the book changes from POV to POV every chapter, the first chapter was Bunny and 2 was Nasir.
