I went into this more or less blind, as I've never read any other Tortall works (I know, shame on me). So far, I'd say it's a 4/5. While the premise is simple ("girl disguises herself as boy to become a knight, girl gains respect of male peers who think she's male"), it's executed well enough, and does delve into elements that are a bit rarer in children's fiction here (e.g. dealing with periods). Setting is okay too
