😭 noo…
I have to return this book tomorrow and I literally didn’t finish. It’s taking so long for some reason(perhaps because I didn’t find myself interested and also I was VERY mad at the parents)

I don't think you can create copy of your daughter into a robot so that after she dies, you'll still have your daughter in robot form. The reason for that is that robots cannot grow; you're still going to feel like this isn't a real person. It will have a fixed personality or a whole life. You will never know how your daughter will act when she's an adult versus when she was a daughter; it's not going to work out.

If youngest daughter died from genetic engineering and you knew the consequences as a parent, and you knew your child would get sick just so they could grow up intelligent, what's the cost? Why put them in a situation where you know they'll be fatally ill in the end? This really makes me mad, also the fact the mom told the robot to act like her daughter knowing that she might not survive!!!

I’m shocked Kazuo wrote this, not to be mean, but I kinda expected more I feel like I’m holding my eyelashes up to read this. It’s not bad. It’s just very boring

🥲 this book is kind of boring… the writing is bland. The story is interesting, but it’s kinda like slice of life where you have to be patient. And I’m not a patient person…

Parent: Mmmmm yes, I should buy a gazillion-dollar artificial robot friend for my child instead of meeting humans
