The way this scene ended was so horrific, tragic, and sad- how Duran had to hurt himself to gain pleasure. It reminded me of Vicious and Fifty Shades of Grey- it takes a lot of therapy to get past those kinds of needs. The end of the book made it seem a little too quick with the happy ending but still a great story.

This description of the decapitated head/body spilling it’s blood was both gruesome and poetic. You can visualize it so clearly. I see what the character is saying: that a past memory is now contaminated by a reference to a present day horror.
