Really tried to spread summer out to its full length but it was hard to stay away from these reflections. So moved by Hannah’s writing and by the way she communicates truth. Challenged and encouraged. Until autumn!

“I’ll ask only this of you: when I die…. and my “one wild and precious life” is over, send the flowers. Send them fresh and send them pressed. Send them in bouquets and boxes. Send them in garlands and wreaths. Send them wild and abundant. But whatever you do, send the flowers. And when they come, and when they wilt, listen to them…trust your father, who cares for them and who cares for you.”

“God does not measure time only in days but in moments and movements…While we’re concerned with chronos, he concerns himself with kairos, that moment when everything is in place, when the ground is warm enough and growth is complete. His is a patience good enough and kind enough to give us time to develop in dark, hidden until we can emerge full and complete…”

If God is the God of miracles, then the supernatural is the most natural thing in the world…perhaps I’m the one who must relearn all I thought I knew.”

What if letting him act sometimes means staying our hand and choosing to stay in the uncertainty? What if waiting on God sometimes looks like patience and self-control? Goodness, if God is teaching me one thing, He is teaching it to me in a thousand places and this is it.

“Because in the end, a heart that longs for fruitfulness is also a heart that will work for it. A heart that hopes for goodness will plant and prune and weight and pray. Such a heart is not blind to the realities of life; it just knows no other way to live. And so understanding the stakes, such a heart stakes a claim anyway. Such a heart hopes in God.”
