Well crud. Onyx has all the cards, and had it not been for Talon snapping Magpie and her friends out of their trance, they'd be dead. And the dead silk carpet is complete. But Batch wanted a flying carpet to escape the conflict, not help Magpie or Onyx or anyone else. He really is a treacherous rat! How screwed are our heroes?

Oh dear... THAT is not good at all.

Well fuck. That went out of the frying pan and into the fire in several ways. All because of fortune teller Madame Sallowpearl, Gladprowl and Stormfoil hunting down a fairy who's been framed for crimes long and because of some passionate fairies using a temple as a private retreat for making out. (sigh) Welp...

Too many characters, but the action is tight. Stormfoil, you're horrible for how you treated the Mothmage. You accepted the Silksinger, so why are you rejecting him? (And Reaveroot isn't much better.) Still, a promise to Melisma was made, and Moth plans to keep it, one way or another. And Bijal is an interesting name for a lightning sword.

Aw, Henrik you're the best! I have a feeling I might be saying that a lot throughout the book. And one of Magpie's ravens is not happy. Now what's this ultra rare tapestry of life weaving talent?

We have a lot of characters here. More than I would like, but the action and fantasy elements are on point. Did the previous book have this many characters? And Ethiag is Slomby's Master. I shouldn't be surprised. Rip Mogorm. Yet where there's a will, Whisper finds a way. But how long before Hirik joins her?

Magpie is lucky to have Bellatrix and Kipepeo by her side. Unlucky that she encountered Ethiag. But learning to kill devils and stop him isn't her only problem. Whisper of the Silksinger clan is out there all alone trying to protect Azazel. I'm guessing Ithuriel is one of the few Djinn left in the world. But what about Slomby? Will he turn on his Master, free Mogorm and the other fire drakes?

Poor Whisper... she lost everything in a flash of flame. Can she even fly?
