Yep! This is one of the books I didn’t finished this year. I think it’s the final book by this author for me.

Eek. That's what happened to me, and I put it in my go-back-later pile. (I haven't gone back yet LOL.) Will be interested to see how it pans out for you if you do finish it.
It's not bad, just slow. I'll let you know if it improves
