MC wants to go kill the immortal king so the country can be governed by the people, free to live as they choose…but she admits that the king has kept the country safe and war-free the whole time while the neighboring countries are constantly at war. And the whole witch collecting thing is to take one witch a year to add to the country’s protectors, not to kill them
