Recent significant lifestyle shift: I stopped being retired and am now working as a medical librarian. This means my ever-present joy in reading funky books about biology and medicine will take up a larger percentage of my reading than ever before.

I remember, Vivian, when Nirvana got really big and started playing arenas and hated it. In what seems like a deliberate move, they then released one of the most obnoxious albums I've ever heard, In Utero, in a seeming attempt to reduce the size of their fan base.One might think I'm following a similar strategy here, minus the huge crowds of adoring fans.
Oh, I love it too, but it's not for Middle America. "Scentless Apprentice" sets the tone and it just builds from there.

That sounds great! Although I already thought you were a librarian at a public library, maybe? Enjoy newfound eeks! And fans (at least me) enjoy seeing bands in smaller venues. I've been to a few stadiums and might as well have been watching the performers on TV!
And I just posted a new "profile photo" for world book day saying "Librarians Are Freedom Fighters" which is true. But it seems they took away our photos page!

I am not though I think I would have liked it. My mother and uncle are archivists, and what they do is fabulous and interesting. I have just always loved libraries and the people who have devoted themselves to serving there. Like school teachers, I know they're not in it for the money. I went for a career with more material compensation, but for the love of it, not just $.
And congratulation! Enjoy this un-retirement occupation. : )
