It's been a long time since I've been rooting for a character like I find myself rooting for Demon. I'm thinking about him throughout my day when I'm away and busy with life, like a parent wondering how their child is doing while at school.
The author paints dynamic villains; people who appear saintly but aren't and people who appear broken (and are) but also are soft places for Demon as a child.
The language is choppy, forcing me to slow down, take my time, and meander through thoughts with Demon as my guide.

I'm delighted.
