If Bale is acting as a tour guide, he is unfortunately one prey to some of the most irritating habits of the tour guide variety. He is prone to long, repetitive tangents that do nothing for the listener's comprehension and depositing unrelated facts with no context and no further explanation. His prose gives all the reassurance of a confused satnav.
