I gave up on this a quarter of the way through, mainly because the writing was so amteurish. I had the feeling it was written by an adolescent youth who'd had no training in writing novels. Lots of telling, boring dialogue, shallow characterisation, etc.
Why anyone would give it 4 or 5 stars defeats me.
