sniksnak Loved Yerby. I read most of his books in high school. I was at our main library recently and looked to see if they had any of his books shelved. I found only two. While there, I checked for Frank Slaughter (he was a surgeon as well) who I also read in high school. Not a single book. Such a shame. They were both awesome 20th century authors who often mixed history, romance, and drama.

Oldman_JE Is this your intro to Yerby, LJ? I'm glad you're finding it a good read.

L J Field Kind of. I read Vixens about forty years ago. I remember I liked it, but can remember nothing of the plot. I plan to follow up with Vixens after finishing Foxes. Also interested in Saracen Blade, based on your review.

There is another very popular writer that demands a resurgence in reading—Mika Waltari. I read his The Egyptian last year and found it to be a great book. Bestseller the year it came out.

Oldman_JE Ah, been a little while. :-) Enjoy.

Off to search for the two authors mentioned. I'll ignore my tbr growing out of control.
