Strange dissonance here that probably just comes from the expectation of a British audience where Lyman will explain what seem to be pretty baseline concepts about the subject matter (specifying that Rangoon is the colonial capital) but then will assume knowledge of other aspects that seem farther below the surface. Interesting stuff tho I genuinely love when a book makes me feel a lil dumb. means i’m learning
