This is like fanservice for me specifically. The references to Marguerite Porete, to the Ancrene Wisse, Walter Hilton, and the direct episodes taken from the text (which were my favourites!) I remember it all so clearly even though I first read the Book almost eight years ago. Brilliant and light prose but feels too simple in parts and rather like what you might find in a children's picture book about Barack Obama or something.
