Like any self respecting Canadian, I LOVE Margaret Atwood but I have to be honest, this book has been a struggle to get through so far. I think the ambiguity and the limited narrative perspective in the original Handmaid's Tale is part of what made the book so engrossing and powerful to begin with. At half way through though I'm still not sure I understand why Atwood wanted this addition to the original story.
