Ha! Gatsby you pathetic fool, get it together bro! Totally forgot about the chapter where he sees Daisy again. Separate but related, it finally occurred to me that Gatsby must’ve been an inspiration for the character of Don Draper—at least a little bit. They both have an inherent charm and charisma but also a veneer of confidence that from time to time gets chipped, exposing them to the core.

Lol I love this so much. So many quotable lines and Fitzgerald writes all these rich people with such ease and a mixture of skepticism and romance. You can tell he’s a part of that world and loves it but is also perceptive enough to know how ridiculous they are too. Love it

Oh I think I’m gonna love this! Read it in high school and didn’t see the big deal but now I can sense this time will be different. Fitzgerald is very skilled.
