Julie G Terry! I just became aware of this author (my friend, "H" was reading one of his son's books). Is this your first book of his?

Terry Hi Julie. In 2022, I read The Time It Never Rained, which I rated 4.5 rounded up to 5. It is about a rancher refusing to take help from the government during several years of devastating drought. The protagonist had a kind of “John Wayne” vibe. I thought the book was excellent, so I thought I would try another. So far, so good, but this one has more of a “cowboys and Indians” energy.

Julie G Terry,
My brother is here at the moment, and he's been on a Louis L' Amour jag--reading a bunch of them in a row. I mentioned this writer to him and we were both scratching our heads. It's amazing how many writers are still unknown to me!

Diane Barnes I love Elmer Kelton. My biggest complaint is that most of his books are mass market editions, impossible to read by aging eyes. Of course, that's where Kindle comes in.

Julie G To Diane: I brought home my first today (this one) and luckily they had a hardcover offering.

Terry Diane, Yes, my copy is not easy to read. I can see how Kindle would be the way to go.

Terry Julie, I know what you mean!
