Isgur starts well, but when she gets into the meat, she reveals a fangirl apologist for the conservative wing of the court. She says pundits now see Thomas as the intellectual leader of the right. That is both hilarious and (if true) damns the intellectual heft of that group. She attacks Christine Blassey Ford, and states that women should not speak out about sexual assault if they did not do so contemporaneously.

There is some smart stuff here, but Isgur states things as fact that are (at best) opinion way too frequently.

Isgur is smarter and more knowledgeable than I. I respect the hell out of her. But there is so much spin here, I'm feeling nauseated.

There is a lot of inside baseball for the Scotus obsessed (that includes me), but also a lot to interest nonlawyers. Isgur makes a complicated subject easily accessible for most everyone without dumbing down. I think she creates some false equivalencies with respect to the impact of judicial philosophies and actions from different justices and the stats of different terms, but mostly, this is reasonably even-handed

Oh, I don’t think I can read this then. I’m getting angry already.

Mre too Erin, the spin is hard to read. Isgur is super smart. And there is great insider Scotus trivia that is super fun for Court nerds like me, but this is doing no good for my sense of calm.
"(...) states that women should not speak out about sexual assault if they did not do so contemporaneously" - bold to put the word "witty" in the title!
The thing is, lots of this is witty. Isgur has a sense of humor but she is not the bold feminist she thinks she is. She thinks Alito's mad animal adoration excuses how much he loathes actual humans who don't look like him and worship like him. Empathy for stray dogs is all well and good, but not relevant to solid jurisprudence.
