Picked this up because I knew estro jen was in it and wanted to read her chapter. But she doesn't have a chapter! There's about ten different people highlighted (artists, skaterboarders etc.) and they're quoted all the way through. This is not what I expected but we'll see how we go...

what the hell. tony hawk (the skateboarder) found school difficult and clashed with his teachers but at the same time he was making a lot of money with his sport - one example, he was a senior in high school when he bought a house. WTF. i don't know if he's very relatable example of overcoming obstacles

okay so this is sort of a memoir about the author not fitting in, but interspersed with quotes from other (successful!) misfits. so far the advice would be:
1. don't do something just because people expect it
2. failure is a part of getting good at something (skaters i think particularly understand this because falling and getting up again is such a big part of it, even at elite levels...)
