Finished book 1 a while ago and never re updated. Going to give it a long while before I attempt book 2. I loved all the characters we’ve said goodbye to and it did feel like a fitting ending so I’m not rushing to book 2, Quixote and sancho still aren’t mu cup of tea so will be interesting to see if I change my mind on the pair by the end of the book. Hopefully the side characters stay common though!

It’s been a while…just finished Cervantes’ second short story and I wasn’t a fan. Bored me so much I stopped reading it for a few weeks. Back on track with the main crew now though.

Third note in three chapters… but I had to write something about this as it was probably my favourite part of the book so far. Cardenio who has been my favourite character so far finally got what he wanted, but I have grown to heavily dislike don Fernando and I’m not too happy that he ends up with Dorotea, was sort of hoping for a showdown and Don Fernandos death at the hands of Cardenio

Chapter 35 shows the actual ending of the story not what i thought it was at the end of 34 and it is a good ending. But going back to see Don Quixote’s and Sancho’s madness kind of made me realise that I don’t like either of their characters, and the reason I’ve come around to like the book this far is because of the sane people we meet along the way and not the two of them. Maybe my opinion will change later

Just finished the strange inclusion that was chapters 33 & 34. I was really not a fan of the start of this story that was so disconnected from the main plot but I did find myself wanting to read on and enjoying it towards then end, but then that ending was awful and a big let down. At least we’re back on the main story now

We’ve met don quixote and Sancho again after a very good break from the duo, I do quite like the book but I’ve got to admit I’m not the biggest fan of the chapters/scenes with just the two of them together. It’s always more entertaining when more people are involved because Sancho gets more confident badmouths Quixote more often. Like when he was battered for insulting Dulcinea. Would like more cardenio also!

Really like the whole Cardenio saga, his story reads very well and it keeps me engaged, interested to see what happens when Sancho meets don quixote again and the priest gets involved. Much more interested in the story now compared to beforehand.

Starting to become a bit of a slog, hoping it picks up sooner rather than later, or there’s a story that lasts longer than 10 pages
