The narrator of the second portion of this book “The Time Machine” carelessly jets himself into the year 2718, where the Earth seems to be a metallic garden of blissfully ignorant humanoids. All seems wonderful to the narrator, til he notices the lack of industry and factories supplying the luxury. This is when he discovers the truth; there is two species of human, one above Earth, one below…. the subterraneans
