I'm actually surprised by how much I enjoy this! Claire is kind of just floating along with whatever happens, and yet I find it strangely gripping!
Another thing that surprises me is just how much on-page intimacy there is. The wording my be different and less explicit than in contemporary romance, but they're doing it like...every few pages
