why do so many fucking books draw parallels between gayness and villainy fuck man

you know what bothers me. that these people that dylan protects and calls his people are only starting to treat sophie decently bc of the men she's affiliated with–dylan, matthew, josh–and bc she had to suffer through paranoia and fear that changed her to respond to threats first with violence. not bc she's a human being deserving of respect and dignity. like wtf.
