So, we're just starting to get to the meat of the story and I don't really care about any of the characters that much. And I've never really cared about fishing and have mixed feelings about eating the fish, so the rhapsody everyone seems to experience over eating the ones the MC catches seems excessive. Possibly even silly. YMMV
