Aliwyn is such a refreshing protagonist... I'm also impressed by the author's ability to grow empathy in the reader for both sides of a conflict

I suppose one of the dangers of starting with the prequel is that by chapter 1 of the first book you can discover that multiple characters you were very interested in before are already dead... On the plus side, I know the author can tell a good story, so I guess it balances out!
