I’m really enjoying this book.

The Western redcedar has reduced to wood fragments on the beach. On to the third tree!

The Engelmann spruce has been traced through life and death. Now on to the second of three trees: Western redcedar.

Really intrigued by the concept of morticulture - that dead trees are as important as living trees in a forest/river environment. Silviculture - the growing and cultivation of trees - gets the lion’s share of attention (think Arbor Day).
