I’m… idk how far into the book now. Like 40% maybe? Goodreads will show me when I post this. Anyway, I dunno. Not a lot has grabbed me after all, either in the plot or the writing. It kind of reminds me of DEVIL HOUSE by John Darnielle in its point of view. I didn’t feel strongly about that book either. I thought VENGEANCE would really get me but so far not so much. Still time, though, I suppose.

Hoping maybe 2 more days will do it? Could be 1 but I doubt it. Sad to say there still isn’t a lot making me feel any strong attachment to the book. I am curious about how much is true, if any. I wonder if that is affecting my response to it at all. I dunno, it doesn’t seem like it’s really addressing any of its themes very clearly. And there still isn’t much in the writing that’s jumping out at me.

I’m pretty positive I added this to my WTRs a long while back when specifically searching for books by graduates of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. This promises to be about incarceration and justice and forgiveness and humanity. I’m not far in yet, but I’m feeling optimistic that I’ll like it.
