It’s interesting to note that in Dante’s theology, Salvation is only achieved through Jesus and since Virgil passed away before Christ’s teachings, Dante believes that Virgil cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven. It’s a curious interpretation as well as Peter’s gate being the gate of Purgatory, instead of the gate of Heaven. Onto The Descent my journey awaits.
