How is she making me laugh one chapter, then sob in the very next?! How???

Such vibrant writing. I really love Crenshaw’s choice of narrating her childhood mostly in the close first person, which makes the moments when she breaks into distant first person (ie commenting back on her childhood as an adult) all the more impactful.

You can really see all of Crenshaw’s spirit through this. Incredible.

Ohhh, I like her writing style already.
