After Gethsemane, Jesus “looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none” (Psalm 69:20). He truly knows what it is like to feel so alone.

When they pierced the Savior’s side, blood and water came out, a medical condition of fluid surrounding a ruptured pericardium due to stress. Jesus died of a broken heart. “If we are to be born again, we must offer a broken heart, accept the cleansing blood of Christ, and come up out of the water of baptism”

the very last thing to happen before Jesus died on the cross was he said “i thirst” and someone put vinegar in a sponge and into his mouth. this fulfilled a prophecy in the scriptures “for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink”, then it was finished.

It is likely the post of the Savior’s crucifixion cross was actually a long tree stump with the branches cut off. Which introduces a huge contrast of the Savior dying. The Tree of Life represents the love of God. The Savior is the embodiment of that love. To have him die at the “tree of life” is very symbolic.

“If the Jews were to put Jesus to death, they would stone him, but the Roman’s would crucify him” therefore they wanted Pilate to be responsible

According to Jewish law, a unanimous guilty verdict in the same day as trial meant an automatic acquittal & defendant was to be set free; surely not everyone could agree on one thing. Jesus should have been acquitted, according to law. Then they blindfolded him, slapped him, then told him to “prophesy” who slapped him omg the audacity.

The saviors crime, according to false witnesses, was officially sedition, or “perverting the nation”. Someone lied and said Jesus said he would destroy the temple. Then they made him swear under oath if he was the son of god. He told the truth. And they lost it.

God saw Abraham’s intent to follow through with a sacrifice the same as if he actually sacrificed Isaac. Intent is quite literally everything.

Peter cut off the ear of a soldier arresting Jesus. Although with good intentions, this was misplaced determination in effort to defend his Master. How often do we also do this on social media? Defending the church in un-Christlike ways? Acting in un-Christlike ways toward others who disagree with us? Our intentions are probably good, but does the Savior want us doing this? As He said, He can defend Himself.

i am so curious about how perhaps time needed to slow in Gethsemane in order for Christ to fully feel all our sorrows and sins.
