Making progress but boy does this book make me feel dumb. It’s a giant info dump of names and places and interconnected stories I have no idea who is who

I’m struggling with this but it has a 4.6 rating and I’m like it must get better. anyone that’s read this let me know if I need to push through. I don’t know if this is a real world or just some dream and nothing will matter then in the end and I’ll be pissed. Maybe I’m not meant for portal books lol
