196 “It made Willis feel alive. It made Willis feel free. Willis felt this way, even when the mariners shared stories of great sadness of losses and disappointments. To tell your story was to experience a kind of freedom. To be able to share news of your adventures, to name your relations and favorite places, was to be a man.”

I find Henry’s motives really infuriating and cowardly. Which I assume is the point but I don’t enjoy reading about it. It sort of seems like everything that can go wrong.. goes wrong. It’s feeling less believable and more made up to move a plot along rather than a carefully crafted story. There are some great quotes though.

I’m getting annoyed by all the secrets without knowing the secrets. Keeps hinting at it and then when we find out, it feels more like ways to make the story dramatic than authentic to the story
