This is so interesting, I can't put it down. Very dark at times especially in treatment of women. But I'm also so enjoying the research and care that seems to have gone into this book in depicting the culture and time period, I'm learning a lot and have to stop like every ten minutes to Google something and go down a Wikipedia rabbit hole.
