I’m only 1% further into the book than yesterday but I want to say this: while talking about her (human) friend who killed himself, she recounts his students objecting to him calling them “dear” and argues that just because nobody previously objected doesn’t mean they were ok with it. Later, she unironically justifies keeping the Great Dane at her apt. partly on the basis that nobody has objected. 😐

Alright, so I was wrong at my 5% update: the book is NOT narrated by the dog. Now I’m kind of disappointed that it isn’t. 🫤 The unnamed main character just got the dog, actually. I’m not sure I’m enjoying the book much so far. The audiobook narrator, Hillary Huber, is pretty generic, too, and that doesn’t help. It’s not impressing me much.

I’m still so early in the book that I don’t have a solid grasp on it, so it’s possible I’ll hear a few minutes more tomorrow and realize this was a ridiculous thought, but is this being narrated by the dog? If so, that is not what I had anticipated.

Audiobook. I barely got started with it, just listened on the way back from dropping Odo off this morning. Not even 10 minutes in.
