does this book really have to make me cry every single time bro

I forgot how good this book is, this is amazing

she's told Ren, a lot is happening, her dad was arrested, Giles decided to 'have mercy' on her when we all know what this creepy old man was really thinking about the daughter of the one woman he truly loves, he's a creepy, disgusting, horrible person and i hate him and wish the loch monsters ate him instead of Aileen

sometimes I forget that I'm literally amazing at picking out good books, I remember why I loved this so much

her father is TERRIFIED of the monsters in the loch, I know now why he doesn't want people 'nosing in his business', if they aren't at the loch, they don't see the monsters, he's willing to be outcast completely from his society as long as it keeps Alva and the townspeople safe

Reading this book for the second time is so sad, her dad is doing everything to keep her safe and give her a happy life and she hates him and fears him, I feel so bad now that I know how the story actually ends

I've read this book so many times, it's honestly just a filler book until I get the next Red Rising book, but this is always one of my favorites, I read it in less than a day the first time
