I don't fully understand everything about the gifted program yet. It was introduced early on how gang violence effects kids in this area. A kid was killed and named "John Doe number 27" and he was suspected to be involed in a gang (Corwin 1). We later find out he was supposed to be in this gifted program. I wonder what other roadblocks the story will hit with the other gifted students throughout the book?
