...a holdover of when this book was written. Where invading Iran (in the book) is a future event, not something that's happening right now. :( Not that this is the book's fault, but I'll be honest, it does date it a bit for me.

I can't say I'm overly fond of this, but I like it a bit better than its predecessor. While it's got the same writing style and chapter structure (in terms of length), the back and forth between past and present is well done. That said, the world ended pre-emptively because of...nanites? Sure, okay. I'll be honest, given the very real threats we face in the year 2026, the way the world ends c. 2051 feels like...
