This still isn't doing it for me, and many of the reasons are the same ones I had with the first Silo book. The characters are shallow. The writing is simplistic. The chapters, if they can even be called that, are so short that there's no real sense of flow to the story. The premise is silly ("nanites, son!"). Donald's sections are okay, but everything else is meh.

...a holdover of when this book was written. Where invading Iran (in the book) is a future event, not something that's happening right now. :( Not that this is the book's fault, but I'll be honest, it does date it a bit for me.

I can't say I'm overly fond of this, but I like it a bit better than its predecessor. While it's got the same writing style and chapter structure (in terms of length), the back and forth between past and present is well done. That said, the world ended pre-emptively because of...nanites? Sure, okay. I'll be honest, given the very real threats we face in the year 2026, the way the world ends c. 2051 feels like...

So far this has the same issues (at least structually) as its predecessor. Oh well, the dye is cast.
