Last year, author Rabih Alameddine won the National Book Award for his recent book The True True Story of Raja the Gullible. I realized I have had a copy of his An Unnecessary Woman for about a decade, following it being a finalist for the same award and listed as one of the best books of 2014. I thought it was time to take it off the shelf.
