I commend Cooper for his refusal to paint Alva as anything different than a money hungry, status chasing-racist. Hats off

I am both captivated and extremely disgusted by this book. Captivated by a historical retelling of a gilded-aged New York and also disgusted (but not surprised) by the BLATANT racism of the rich. BIG ICKKK

Reading because I want to know more about the vanderbilts = reading because Anderson cooper has a nice voice
