As she’s searching around Ponins death site, she finds other soldiers, 30 at least all that dropped dead wo an indication how they died, no blood

She finds two children terrified, they tell her that they the soldiers let them play there and eat rice leftover - the barracks turned ice cold they said no attack

Calla wasn’t allowed to have a sword “the royal guards r your protection” so when she gets the barracks & sees the yamen workers around Ponins body - he has carvings in his chest similar to qi expermwnte; but Ledia miliu is in prison (she guided them in the 1st book)

She has a flashback of when she was stabbed & yikes was kidnapped she felt that she should’ve gotten others out not just yilas

Calla noted the coldness of the place (literally) - the villagers don’t want help from higher ups due to their negligence of wars etc - Venus cry’s out that General Ponin is dead outside of the west barricks, they were looking for him to report back to Venus cuz she’s in charge of his group as council - calla takes off the to barracks to find out what’s happening leaving Venus behind

Rincun is only province that’s been split between west & east side & ran by one council member - aka Venus & apparently she’s not good at it

Eigi & Pashe (other councils) never struggling to receive prompts from General to soldiers due to loyalty unlike Venus who doesn’t have that

Calla remembers the events that pushed her to invade callas body when she was 8 & remembers that Rincun used to be her home

Venus Hailira-1st born daughter of council man who passed away recently, she took her fathers spot & is tagging along with Calla on the visit

Rincun & Youlia are the only provinces in Talin that delegation visits are on the calendar, it’s mainly for show

Anton in August’s body declared Calla as his advisor and to pardon her of any crimes

Flash forward: Calla states she was ushered away after the coronation and she couldn’t plead for forgiveness or know how he was standing in front of her. She request to speak to the new king but it was denied and told that she would be accompanying the delegation visit to a place called Rincun (used to be a diff name but they scared the people to forget it)

In that moment he says if king kasa wanted to mark makusas as revolutionary’s Anton will accept, he’ll finish what his parents started & Calla will answer for you what she did too

He doesn’t know whether to believe it to be true his family was starting a revolution or not, he’s frustrated the calla didn’t show any signs of remorse as well - he leaves the war room & goes towards August bedroom, has calla attacked the king yet he wonders? The only thing she cared about he remarks.

Out of frustration he throws a case at the mirror- August knew and & didn’t care what happened to his fam

He finds a file stating his father was believed to be a revolutionary insurgent & to eradicate the makusa bloodline so they don’t radicalize followers & that the palace can’t be associated with this punishment.
He realizes king kasa is why his parents and bloodline is dead, he’s mad - it wasn’t a rural attack, why did his sisters die as collateral - so much confusion for this guys- understandable
