There's 4 short stories in this book, Different Seasons, so I'll comment a short review after each.
Shawshank Redemption! What an awesome story. I've heard that Stephen King wrote these stories to show people that he can write outside the horror genre, and while I've only finished the first story, I am impressed - and I agree. I'd never actually seen the movie, Shawshank Redemption, but I knew it was a 'jail story'. In typical King fashion, he draws you deep into the story where the characters feel like people you've met, and the places become familiar to you. The ability to relate is high and while I've never been to prison myself, I felt something of the atmosphere and the emotion of those whose stories were told - the high-highs, and the low-lows.
Solid world building, excellent character development and a satisfying end. 5 stars!
