So far very slow and repetitive. I've skimmed a few times too. I'm going to stick with it for now, but not Ms. Winters' best work for sure.

I’ve heard people not liking this one as the plot is slow and very meh.

This one feels very much like she didn't know where she was going with the story while she was writing it. Considering how at the very beginning she has a disclaimer about how she can straddle the line of fantasy with her other stories, but warns that eventually this one dives deep into (and I haven't even made it to fantasy territory yet) I'm going to assume that she literally didn't know where the story was going and then took the leap into fantasy land so she had somewhere it could go that wasn't beholden to any other subgenre restraints. Hopefully it will pick up soon. I'm not going to lie, I expected more, so maybe I'm to blame with having my expectations too high.
